Character Name: Lyndis (Lyn)
Character Canon: Fire Emblem
History: http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Lyn
AU History:
Quite similar to her own canon history, Lyn was born on the plains to her loving parents. She was raised to respect both nature and Pokemon, as they were the things that supplied life to those who lived out in the middle of nowhere. Father Sky and Mother Earth were the most important thing to Lyn and all things that came from this were to be revered.
Unfortunately, that idyllic life was ended at a young age. During a bandit attack, both Lyn’s father and mother were murdered while Lyn managed to escape, her parents sacrificing themselves to make sure she survived. It was during this flight, she discovered her heritage as an Enlightened as nature supported her retreat from the killing field. Lyn returned to their encampment later and found everyone dead. After burying her parents, she continued to live as is, now enjoying the companionship of the Pokemon that were a part of this place.
Lyn wasn’t idle, however. The attack sparked a kind of hate deep in her and she sought to avenge what had happened to her and anyone who partook in murder and killing would be cut down without remorse. Not only that but she needed to make sure others wouldn’t suffer the same fate she had. Protection of the weak was also buried deep within her. She honed her sword skills, the basics already taught to her by her father. After a few years passed, Lyn was picked up by Valkyries who had stumbled on the area and, seeing it as the best option, she joined them. She took up their wandering lifestyle, fighting battles she found just and returning to the Citadel every so often, as required.
Canon Personality:
Lyn is first and foremost, a Sacaean. Those who come from Sacae follow a very strict moral code. So strict that even though the rest of the world considers Sacaeans as barbarians, they know that those from Sacae follow two immutable rules. The first is that a Sacaean will never lie. The second is that when a Sacaean gives his or her word, they will stand by it until their death. For Lyn, these two rules are how she lives her life. Even when her enemy is from Sacae, she knows that their word can be trusted, as shown in her fight against Uhai. Above all, Lyn will never lose her honor and will never allow her word to be broken.
Another thing Lyn can be counted on is defending the weak. Or simply helping anyone who requires assistance. Lyn doesn't ever say no to a reasonable request. Even if she has to put her life on the line, she doesn't even think of asking for a reward when she's finished handling whatever the problem was. When it comes to her friends, this goes triply so. Lyn will move hell and heavens if one of her friends needs her help. However, she doesn't overreach and knows when she is in a spot where she needs help herself. Lyn doesn't hesitate to suck up her pride and take assistance from others when she's in a situation where it's required.
Despite her knight-like personality with the refusal to lie and always helping others, Lyn can hold massive grudges. If someone brings harm to herself, her family, or her friends (especially her friends), she will bring down the reign of terror upon them. If she can't do it right then, she will wait until she can. She doesn't let her need for revenge consume her to the point of forgetting about others but she will take the best opportunities she can to get back at people who have wronged her or her friends in the past.
One other interesting thing about Lyn is that she really dislikes closed in places and tall buildings and, as a Sacaean, she reveres nature. When she was brought to her grandfather, it was revealed that Lyn was a noblewoman and leader of this small nation, despite living on the plains for all her life. Lyn could only handle about a year of the city life before she moved back to the plains of Sacae. Indeed, if her ending is not paired with the other two Lords, Lyn will cite that she doesn't like the closed in feeling of the towns and cities so she moves back to the plains, giving up her noble heritage and becoming a nomad again.
Another reason why Lyn didn't fit into the part of a noblewoman is because she's very rough around the edges and often considered tomboyish. She even has to ask Eliwood on the proper manners to use while putting on the role of a noble. Of course, none of those stuck well with her in the end.
AU Deviation:
First, Lyn isn’t a noble like she is in canon. She has no heritage to be ruler of a location, she’s just from a family who knew how to take care of themselves in the wild. Along with that, she didn’t join an army to help her noble pals and kill dragons, like she did in canon. But she does join the group of warriors known as the Valkyrie to continue her life. Considering her nature in canon to be a wanderer, this fits in fairly well for her. But because the main points in her life remain the same (bandit attack and a need to protect others to keep them from the same fate)
When Lyn’s parents were killed and she awakened to her own powers, her life took a minor turn, similar in the way to it did in canon when she met the Tactician, though at a much earlier age in AU. It helped her succeed on her own, being able to bond with Pokemon and not only have their assistance but to use her newfound abilities to defend herself. Swordskills are nice but being an Enlightened is much better.
Lyn didn’t exactly realize what she was until she encountered the Valkyrie but she knew something was different. It’s because of that reasoning that she joined them without argument or hesitation. Knowing that she had something others didn’t plus knowing she could use it to help others is what fueled her desire to jump to the opportunity presented to her. This outcome is a bit different from her want to help defend the Tactician from a bandit attack and getting roped into something bigger.
Canon Abilities:
Like most Fire Emblem named characters, Lyn possesses heightened speed, strength, durability, etc over normal humans. For Lyn specifically, her speed, skill, and reflexes are better than pretty much any other character in her army. Her attack animations often involve multiple attacks in the space of a moment, speed mirages, and disappearing/reappearing acts.
By the end of her canon, she possesses two special weapons unique solely to her. One is the Mani Katti, a short sword that is super effective against armor and mounted units, as well as increasing her chance to score critical hits. The other is the Sol Katti, a longer sword super effective against dragons. It slows her down but increases her strength.
Enlightened Abilities:
The types I’m going with are Grass and Steel. With Grass as the primary type. Reasoning being that Lyn is far more at home in nature than most, making her a good candidate for Grass. Steel is there for the sharp ends of her personality plus the fact that she uses swords. To represent the fact that she’s a Valkryie and that Lyn is mostly a speed focused character, I’d like her to have the ability Child of the Howling Gale. Also with her, I’d like to request a short sword with a Fighting type bonus that significantly increases critical hit chance.
While Grass may seem a bit misleading with a speedy sword user, there are many Grass moves that are slashing attacks with a higher critical value attached. Steel most likely needs little explanation but most of it's moves are physical and that’s basically Lyn in a nutshell. For her Enlightened powers, I’d like to see Lyn have a focus on being faster and more accurate, much like in canon. Her stats should focus majorly in Speed and minorly in Attack. On the opposite hand, her defense stats and HP might suffer a little as she represents a dodge tank.
For her actual powers, they will revolve around the secondary effects on physical attacks. Like Razor Leaf, which has an increased chance of a crit or Quick Attack, which has priority. Heightened criticals and priority attacks represent her accuracy and speed, which will be her two main schticks in her lower levels. To start with, she may manage one speed mirage and her critical attack rate hovers around 10% higher than normal, without her sword.
As she hits her second form, her abilities begin to focus more on her elemental types, which raises the attack power of them. With Leaf Blade as a more powerful Grass move and Bullet Punch as a Steel Type (and both Physical), Lyn’s ability to deal more damage while retaining her previous abilities marks an improvement. In this form, she promotes to 3 speed mirages, demonstrating priority, and a 20% critical rate higher than norma, without her sword.
By the final form, her abilities take another step up. While her Speed and Attack increase, she gains more status affecting techniques. On the Grass end, her attacks begin to absorb HP, much like Giga-Drain, if they successfully land. For her Steel type, successful attacks begin to increase her Physical attack power also, much like Metal Claw. Drawn out battles with Lyn become dangerous as her strength and staying power increase while she retains her high speed and critical chance. With this final form, along with her previous bonuses, she heals for around 10% of the damage dealt to her and every successful attack increases her attack power by 10% also.

Musebox stuff, it can’t be helped.
Third-Person:
1. What would you say the role of Pokémon is in your life?
[A simple smile from Lyn. When it came to talking about how things fit into the world, she was quite comfortable with it.]
They’re there to be respected, understood, and not underestimated. Much like nature herself, you must rely on Pokemon to supplement your life but you cannot use or abuse them without repercussions. No, they must be loved and treated properly…..better than your neighbor or friends since they can be life itself. They are both partners and everything we should aspire to be.
2. What do you seek for humanity’s future?
I seek a world where people can live freely under the sky. Without fear of others and able to provide for themselves without excess. Do you understand what this means? We must work with ourselves and Pokemon to expunge that which seeks to threaten the existence of both of us.
[She’s quite serious about this. Not a bit of hesitation in her voice.]
Evil has no place in a world full of good people.
3. To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness?
What lengths wouldn’t I go to?
[She brings a hand to her chest, taking a deep breath.]
I would give everything I have to save those that placed their trust in me. If I felt it was impossible to do, I would seek the assistance of others. Either way, those who are lost will be found, no matter the physical cost to me.
4. What aspects and traits do you respect most in your individual fellow man?
The list is pretty large. To start with, those who can be trusted and relied upon. A person who is honest and will back up their word is the type of person whom can be respected. Even if they are evil, wrong, or have bad motivations, if they can give you their word and you know they’ll stick to it, they should be respected.
[She hopes she isn’t misunderstood. There are those who do bad things but have a code of honor they’ll follow. While she won’t stop at stopping them, she will respect the fact that they can be relied on.]
Secondly, I think those who trust in and believe their friends should be respected. Sometimes, it’s not easy for a person to describe their actions but having a friend who will trust them without objections means a lot.
5. What do you think your Pokémon respect most about you?
That I respect them.
[Yes, another smile and nod.]
Strength, power, and wisdom are all important, surely. But knowing that your partners believe in you as much as you believe in them is a power in its own right. One that can amplify the ability of both parties as lacking doubt in your actions only makes you that much stronger. Both myself and my Pokemon have this kind of relationship, one unclouded and without judgement.
6. When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why?
Those options are a bit limited, aren’t they? I suppose bonding would be the best answer but sitting down and understanding the Pokemon, its actions and motivations, is the best thing to do. Don’t judge or seek to create conflict.
[It’s a bit personal but….understanding others is what is important. If they have bad intentions, knowing why they act is important to dissuading them.]
If they want to harm you or others, find out why. There might be a way to stop them and form a friendship. If you can’t respect and understand their decision while defending what is important to yourself. Going with with flared aggression solves nothing.
